From Stage To Cell Phone

The familiar glow of cell phones recording during concerts may be unavoidable but the makers of a new app are hoping to take a bite out of the practice by offering fans live concert video recordings in the midst of the show.

Soundhalo, which recently launched its beta version during an Alt-J concert, will offer DRM-free videos of songs that have been mixed by a production team at the venue, moments after they’re performed.

Videos from Alt-J’s show were priced at $1.50 each, or $9 for the band’s 16-song set. The app is currently only available for Android users, although an iOS release is reportedly in the works.
