The Wonderful Time Warp That Is La Luz

With luscious four-part harmonies that sound as if they sprang out of the early 1960s pop scene, the all-girl group La Luz embarks on a cross-country journey beginning in late June in the Pacific Northwest.

Chances are Seattle’s La Luz – Alice Sandahl (keyboards), Abbey Blackwell (bass), Marian Li Pino (drums) and Shana Cleveland (guitar) – probably doesn’t sound like anything you’re listening to right now.  That is, unless you’re listening to something combining Ventures-like surf guitar with traces of doo-wop mixed with a little dose of the old Phil Spector sound found on records by The Ronettes or The Crystals.  But if those are the sounds coming out of your stereo, you’re probably already listening to La Luz.

But if you’re among the uninitiated when it comes to La Luz, why not take the group’s “Sure As Spring” out for a test drive?

Along with the tour comes the chance to possess a vinyl copy of the girls’ Damp Face EP.  Available on translucent yellow/gold vinyl, the first pressing of the disc is limited to 500 copies.
