Piedmont’s Steven Hecht Dies
Steven Hecht, owner, founder and agent at Piedmont Talent in North Carolina, died of cancer May 28. He was 51.
The New York native was a musician/songwriter with a love for blues and roots music that began in his days as a DJ and carried over to his agency, launched in 1989.

Johnny Winter, John Lee Hooker Jr., Eddy “The Chief” Clearwater, Canned Heat, Corey Harris, and Damon Fowler are just a few of the acts on the roster. Hecht was twice awarded the Keeping The Blues Alive Award by the Blues Foundation and was a foundation board member and judge for several international blues competitions in Memphis, Tenn.
