Stereophonics Catch A Train

Britain’s Stereophonics returns to North America in the fall, one month after the band’s Graffiti On The Train drops on this side of the Atlantic.  Launching the adventure in mid-September, stops include Philadelphia, Boston, Toronto, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Mexico City.

The group’s eighth studio album, Graffiti On The Train is being described as “the final piece in the puzzle for a newly refined and cinematic Stereophonics.”   Perhaps that little bit of show-biz is a reference to the inspiration behind the disc.  Written by the band’s Kelly Jones,  the album’s story about two friends fleeing the country after a tragic accident is said to be inspired by a screenplay the lead vocalist/guitarist is working on.  Released in the U.K. earlier this year, Graffiti On The Train was hailed by London’s Sunday Times as Jones’ “best work of his career” as well as the Stereophonics’ “least conventional yet.”

Stereophonics’ 2013 summer calendar definitely has an international feel with the band playing festivals in Europe, Japan and South Korea plus headlining dates in Australia.  The North American tour launches in Philadelphia and wraps at Mexico City’s “Corona Capital Festival.”
