Yes Unveils ‘Yestival’
The upcoming Yes tour will feature the band playing start-to-finish renditions of three of its famous albums – The Yes Album, Close To The Edge and Going For The One. For Yestival, the band is paring it back to two albums – The Yes Album and Close To The Edge.
The album selections should nicely cap a day of first-gen prog rock. For years, The Musical Box has been keeping the spirit of early Genesis alive and is exclusively licensed by Peter Gabriel and Genesis.
Yestival will also give you a dash of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, courtesy of Palmer’s ELP Legacy. Rounding off what should be a perfect day for 1970s prog aficionados will be Annie Haslam reminding us why the music of Renaissance still matters.
Yestival will also field a second stage featuring performances by progressive rock up-and-comers such as Scale The Summit plus an appearance by The School Of Rock. There will also be an art showing by Roger Dean, the man who brought so many Yes album covers to life, including Fragile, Close To The Edge, and Tales From Topographic Oceans.
“This is a concept we’ve been trying to put into motion for some time, and only now we’ve been able to turn it into reality,” Yes bassist/co-founder Chris Squire said. “We’re looking forward to starting Yestival out in the Philadelphia area, which has been a Yes stronghold since the ’70s.”
