Modest Mouse fans throughout Europe awoke to the bad news that the band won’t be playing the continent this summer.  The band has canceled its festival-heavy European plans.

From ModestMouse.com:

“After much thought, we have decided to cancel our EU/UK tour to continue work on our forthcoming album.  We do appreciate our fans and promise that we will make it up to you next year.”

The band also teased a 2014 outing, saying it looks forward to sharing the new music “with the world next year.”

Roger Daltrey is replacing the canceled Ray Manzarek & Robby Krieger gig at the OC Fair in August,  Of course, the originally planned gig came off of the fair’s calendar following Manzarek’s untimely passing last month.

Scheduled for Aug. 10, as part of the Toyota Summer Concert Series at the Pacific Amphitheater at the fair, the concert will be a charity affair with proceeds helping Teen Cancer America.
