Matt Nathanson: The Last Great Pretender

Matt Nathanson says he’s all set to go for his fall tour because he’s “got new songs, new stories, a white Bengal tiger and confetti canons.” Well, fine – he was just kidding about the tiger and canons. But the singer/songwriter has plenty of dates and new tunes.

As for the new music, Nathanson’s new LP, Last of the Great Pretenders, is due out July 16. Produced by Nathanson with Mike Viola and Jake Sinclair, the album is described as “a richer and deeper work both musically and lyrically than any of his previous LPs.” Look out for “deftly placed pop-cultural references and vivid details drawn from his keen observations of everyday life.” And of course Nathanson hasn’t forgotten to top “each song with an emphatic and seductive chorus hook.”
