Steve Martin And The Steep Canyon Rangers Save The Day
Mumford & Sons announced last week that the band was calling off a handful of dates, including performances at Bonnaroo and Telluride, because bassist Ted Dwane needed surgery for a blood clot on his brain.
After Jack Johnson filled in at Bonnaroo over the weekend, Martin, the Steep Canyon Rangers and Brickell will take the stage June 20 in Telluride, Colo. On Friday Martin’s summer tour, billed as “an evening of bluegrass and comedy,” continues with a gig in Stamford, Conn.
“All best wishes to Mumford’s Ted Dwane, honored to face angry mob tomorrow at Telluride on their behalf,” Martin tweeted June 19.
The excursion supports Martin and Brickell’s album, Love Has Come For You. Released in April, the LP features The Steep Canyon Rangers, Esperanza Spalding on bass, veteran studio guitarist Waddy Wachtel, and Nickel Creek alumni Sara and Sean Watkins.
