Parrothead Mudbath

The first big show at Live Nation’s newly refurbished in Chicago was a big mess – literally – but Live Nation has made concessions to ease the pain.

played the shed June 29. The lawn area at what was once known as the Charter One Pavilion has expanded capacity from 9,000 to 30,000, but heavy rains and newly laid sod turned the Parrotheads’ playground into a swamp.

“It was like six inches of mud,” one patron told the Chicago Tribune.

However, Live Nation heard the complaints and offered a solution.

“We apologize for the wet ground experienced by lawn patrons,” North American Concerts Co-President Mark Campana said, “so we are inviting those people to be our guests at another Live Nation outdoor show this summer.”

Patrons would be contacted via email to get free passes to an available show at FirstMerit or at the other Live Nation venues in the area – First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre or Alpine Valley. Other complaints pertained to the expansion in size. Patrons said the amenities were not expanded to accommodate it.
