Record St. Gallen
Switzerland’s OpenAir St. Gallen has looked booked for a memorable year since selling all its 110,000 tickets six months in advance.
The outdoor in the rolling countryside near the Appenzell Alps, one of the highest parts of Switzerland, had previously sold out a month in advance in 1996, 1997 and 2012.
This year all the tickets were gone before the end of February. It was also the first time that the 37-year-old festival had been completely cashless.
Drinks, food and merchandising goods could only be paid for with a chip on the festival wristband.
The RFID-chip, which was also used for the access control, turned out to be a success and will likely be used for future St. Gallens.
The festival’s June 27-30 lineup included Kings Of Leon, Biffy Clyro, Die Arzte, Sigur Ros, Villagers, Band Of Horses, Haim, Jake Bugg, and The Lumineers.
