Rush Out To Get These Stamps

Stamp collectors and Rush fans have at least one thing in common. There is a good chance both groups of folks will be interested in getting their hands on a book of Canadian stamps featuring the rockers.

The Canadian Post issued the stamps today, along with stamps featuring The Guess Who, The Tragically Hip and Beau Dommage as part of its ongoing Canadian Recording Artist series.

After honoring acts including Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Bruce Cockburn, Robbie Robertson and Ginette Reno, the newest addition to the series marks the first time bands have been featured on the stamps.

An announcement from Canada Post says that current band members got to collaborate on the stamps with designer Louis Gagnon of Paprika and give their input “all the way through” the development process. While The Tragically Hip and Beau Dommage chose group shots, Rush went with the Starman logo featured on the back cover of its 1976 album, 2112, and the Guess Who picked its logo.

Although it took the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until 2013 to induct Rush, its home country paid tribute to the group nearly two decades earlier by inducting the band into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame in 1994.
