James Taylor To Perform With Mormon Tabernacle Choir
Taylor’s upcoming two performances scheduled for Sept. 6 & 7 at the 21,000-seat Conference Center on Temple Square of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints comes about via an invitation extended to the singer/songwriter by the O.C. Tanner Gift Of Music concert series. Taylor’s appearance will mark the O.C. Tanner Gift Of Music’s 30th anniversary of presenting free concerts for the SLC community.
“We’ve asked Mr. Taylor to choose from among the many pieces he has performed with symphonies and choruses and also to be sure to include his fans’ favorites,” Mormon Tabernacle Choir music director Mack Wilberg, who will also conduct the concert, said, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. “We have wanted to have him join us in concert for many years, and this 30th anniversary program seemed like the perfect opportunity.”
Now comes the hard part – getting your hands on a free ticket. The Tribune reports that “tickets are being distributed in a number of ways,” including a random selection process as well as through community groups. A limited amount of passes will be made available to Utah Symphony and Utah Opera season ticket holders.
