Bolan’s Heir Sues Music Publisher

Roland Feld, son of late T. Rex frontman Marc Bolan, filed a lawsuit against a music publisher that allegedly didn’t renew its contract to use the glam rocker’s hits.

The lawsuit, filed July 10 in a Los Angeles court, accuses Westminster Music Limited of copyright violations related to songs including “Bang a Gong (Get It On),” “Jeepster” and others with copyrights that expired in 1999.

Feld claims that, as his father’s heir, he’s the sole owner and administrator of the songs and reportedly seeks more than $2 million in compensation. Bolan, whose real name was Mark Feld, died in a 1977 car accident.
