A Few Minutes With Alison Moyet

Alison Moyet will be back in the U.S. in November for her first gigs in the States since 2008. But if fans aren’t careful, they’ll miss this quick set of dates in support of her first album in nearly six years. This excursion is just about as short as can be.

The singer/songwriter and former half of Yaz released her eighth full-length, the minutes, in May. The LP debuted at No. 5 on the U.K. albums chart and has earned Moyet praise on both sides of the Atlantic.

“True to her punk roots, the English artist didn’t make the minutes, her first studio album since 2007, to please anyone,” the Associated Press wrote. “And, by doing so, she has created a remarkable collection that takes her rich contralto to new edges.”

So, just how short is the U.S. tour? Fans will get two chances to see Moyet on the West Coast and one night on the East Coast. This is the plan:

Nov. 11 – San Francisco, Calif., The Fillmore
Nov. 12 – Los Angeles, Calif., Club Nokia
Nov. 14 – New York, N.Y., Grand Ballroom

“Flipping flip. I’m only going to play some gigs in the USA. Huzzah! I so can’t wait,” Moyet said. “I’ve got clean pants and everthang. Come while you can. I’m not getting any younger.”

In addition to showing off her new material, Moyet plans to play Yaz tunes and selections from her solo back catalog.

Tickets go on sale Aug. 2.
