Frank Ocean Cancels Aussie Dates

Frank Ocean canceled a four-date Australian tour citing a small vocal cord tear at his first show, at Melbourne Festival Hall, July 26.

The others were July 29-30 at Sydney   and a July 28 set at the Splendour In The Grass festival. 

“The medical advice he received was that if he continued to sing, permanent damage could occur,” read a statement from Live Nation and Niche Productions.

The others were July 29-30 at Sydney  up the bill, and rushed 16-year-old rising star Lorde from her home in New Zealand for the gig.

Lorde’s two May shows in Sydney and Melbourne sold out. But playing before 10,000 in the packed out Supertop tent (Splendour drew a total of 25,000 on the day) was clearly a step up for her.

“Thanks for having me Australia, this is mental!” she exclaimed before her second song. The set, which concluded with an acapella version of her hit “Royals,” received an enthusiastic response.
