Eagles To Rock A Revitalized Forum
The Madison Square Garden Company acquired the venue in June 2012 from the Faithful Central Bible Church which had owned the Forum since 2000.
Today the Madison Square Garden Company announced its plans for revitalizing the building, including its commitment to invest $100 million into the project. The company named Chase as its presenting partner.
Plans include installing state-of-the-art technology, completely modernizing the interior and creating a unique “sky deck” that will serve the largest concerts, events and productions. Another new feature will be tinted glass separating the concession areas from the arena floor to ensure concert fans don’t miss a single note of a performance.
The Forum will re-launch Jan. 15 with the first of three concerts by the Eagles. The band will also play the venue Jan. 17-18. Ticket information will be announced shortly.
How did the Madison Square Garden Company snag the Eagles for the Forum’s re-launch? During today’s press conference Madison Square Garden Company chief executive James L. Dolan thanked Eagles manager Irving Azoff and said the music industry heavyweight was the man “who brought this opportunity to our attention.”
Azoff also had a few things to say about the building and its relationship to the Eagles.
“The Forum is an iconic Southern California landmark and with the vision of The Madison Square Garden Company is sure to become the world’s quintessential music-focused venue,” Azoff said.
“Since the 1970s, the Eagles have a long and rich history with the Forum. The building has played an important role in the growth and development of the band from their early Southern California roots to becoming a worldwide touring phenomenon. With its unsurpassed acoustics and warm intimate arena experience, it’s always been the band’s favorite building to perform in and we’re anxiously looking forward to kicking off the next era of the Forum this January.”
