Big News: Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire & More

What do you get when you combine performances from Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire and Blur? Why, one might call that a big day out. Actually, that’s exactly what they call it Down Under. Along with many more acts, the 2014 Big Day Out Lineup has been unveiled.

The annual extravaganza takes place over seven days, beginning Jan. 17 in , New Zealand, at Western Springs Stadium before making its way to Australia. The Aussie dates are scheduled at Carrara’s Metricon Stadium Jan. 19, ’s Flemington Racecourse Jan. 24, Showgrounds Jan. 26-27, at Bonython Park Jan. 31 and ’s Claremont Showgrounds Feb. 2. Although Sydney is held over two days, each day is ticketed separately with the same lineup playing both days.

In addition to Pearl Jam, Arcade Fire and Blur, the acts playing all six cities include Snoop Dogg, Major Lazer, Steve Angello, The Lumineers, Tame Impala, Dillon Francis, Mac Miller, , Grouplove, Flosstradamus, Portugal. The Man, Toro Y Moi, DIIV, The Naked And Famous, Mudhoney and The 1975.

Flume, Big Gigantic and Cosmic Psychos are a few of the extra acts booked for the Australian stops. Auckland’s show will feature sets from The Phoenix Foundation, Clap Clap Riot and more.

Plus, more acts are yet to be announced.

OK, let’s talk tickets, which are priced at $185 (US $166) for general admission.

A presale at local General Pants stores begins Aug. 1, followed by a Big Day Out members presale Aug. 2. These presales only apply to the Australian stops.

Public onsales are scheduled Aug. 7 for Gold Coast, Aug. 8 for Sydney (both days), and Aug. 9 for Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Auckland isn’t offering any presales – but it will have the first 10,000 tickets available at an early bird price of $165 (US $148) beginning Aug. 12. Full price tickets go on sale Sept. 2.
