The fest, to be held under a traditional big top tent, will include an intimate concert by the group plus performances by an eclectic mix of musicians, vaudeville comedy, contortionists, acrobats, puppetry, and interactive performance art.

For Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Big Top is all about injecting a little soul back in touring.

“These days a band is a fast machine, cramming in dates, cutting fat, making the most money it can. Far gone are the ancient days of the traveling troubadours, lingering in towns, meeting the people, entertaining for days,” said the band’s Alex Ebert. “If you tour, or you have been to a ‘professional’ show, you may have had the sense that something is missing from the experience…And so, here comes the idea of Big Top – a one-off experiment in reaching for a more colorful, soulful, way to tour.”

With four evening shows and a Sunday matinee for families, Big Top will transform each day from a carnival-like setting outside with a farmer’s market, beer gardens, games, art installations, films, local vendors and artisans, to a performance venue in the tent with 360 degree tiered seating.

Tickets for Big Top, produced by the Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros in association with Live Nation, go on sale on Friday, Aug. 9 at 10:00 AM PST.  For additional information, visit EdwardSharpeBigTop.com.
