Neil Young & Crazy Horse Tour Reined In

Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s tour plans were stopped in their tracks this week with the band’s remaining European gigs scheduled in August called off. The word from Young is that the cancellation is “due to an accident involving Crazy Horse.”

The band broke the bad news Thursday, the day Young & Crazy Horse were supposed to play Way Out West Festival in Goteborg, Sweden.

Here’s the announcement from Young’s website:      

“Due to an accident involving Crazy Horse, the remaining dates on the Neil Young and Crazy Horse tour of Europe and the British isles have been cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes to our fans or the Festivals where we were scheduled to appear. As you must be, we too are disappointed at this unfortunate turn of events.”

The canceled shows included dates in Norway, Denmark, Germany and England as well as an apperance at Belgium’s Pukkelpop Festival.

The accident might have something to do with Frank “Poncho” Sampedro. Rolling Stone is reporting that the guitarist broke his hand, according to a “source close to the Young camp.”

The source told RS, “It’s a mild fracture. He’s expected to make a complete recovery in time for the North American tour.”

The North American tour kicks off Aug. 31 in Dundas, Ontario, at the .
