Starring Blink-182

Blink-182’s late summer plans, which mark the band’s first U.S. dates of the year, now include a gig at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, N.J., benefiting Sandy Relief. The venue is preparing to open in early September after being damaged by Superstorm Sandy last year.

A portion of each ticket sold to the Sept. 10 show will be donated to Sayreville families via the Middlesex County Long Term Recovery Group. A post on the Starland Ballroom’s website notes that more than 200 homes in Sayreville were damaged or destroyed by Superstorm Sandy’s floodwaters.

“This is going to be a great show in an intimate venue,” guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge said. “We don’t get to play a lot of gigs in clubs anymore, so this’ll be as much fun for us as it is for the crowd. Plus, showing that the Starland and Sayreville were knocked down, but they’re not out – all while helping with relief efforts – is awesome.”

Blink is also donating a portion of ticket sales to research and treatment for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. Support act New Beat Fund is donating funds from its T-shirt sales at the show to both charities.

The Starland reopens Sept. 6 with the Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington and special guest Filter.
