Contemplating Hearnes Center
University of Missouri Athletic Director Mike Alden says the school is considering the “future and viability” of the 41-year-old, on-campus Hearnes Center that was displaced by the opening of Mizzou Arena in 2004.

The field house is too expensive to maintain, Alden said, and has high energy costs.
While there is some talk of improvements to the building, the real estate – in the heart of the university’s sports park and next to Memorial Stadium – may have more value as the school modernizes athletic facilities.
