Merrill To GM Wiltern
Rick Merrill, longtime GM of Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles, will soon be GM at the 2,300-capacity The Wiltern .
At Universal CityWalk, Universal City, Calif.
Merrill is expected to begin his new post after the Gibson closes in early September.
The 6,021-capacity shed opened in 1972 as Universal Amphitheatre and was renamed in 2005 when Gibson Guitar Corporation bought naming rights.
Its indoor venue is being shuttered to make way for a Harry Potter ride for the Universal Studios theme park.
