The Second Coming Of Lorde

A headline from Vulture earlier this week asks, “Who Is This 16-Year-Old New Zealand Singer Everyone’s Talking About?” Well, whether or not exactly everyone is talking about Lorde, plenty of people are buying tickets to her North American fall tour.

Following two sold out shows in New York City and Los Angeles earlier this month, Lorde is coming back to North America for a short trek that launches on the West Coast in September.

After initially booking a handful of fall gigs, a second night was added at Webster Hall and her show in Toronto was upgraded to a bigger venue. Instead of playing the 700-capacity The Hoxton, Lorde will take the stage at the 1,427-capacity Danforth Music Hall.

The electro-pop singer/songwriter, otherwise known as Ella Yelich-O’Connor, put out her first EP, The Love Club, in March and her debut full-length, Pure Heroine, is due out Sept. 30. Fans can’t get enough of her single “Royals,” which has been viewed more than 6.2 million times on YouTube. The U.S. Version of the vid has racked up 3.9 million views. Earlier this month Lorde made headlines when “Royals” topped the U.S. alternative songs chart, making her the first solo female artist to do so since 1996, when Tracy Bonham’s “Mother Mother” was a big hit on the radio.

Here’s the plan for her fall North American tour, featuring Ribbon Breaks as direct support:
Sept. 24 – Los Angeles, Calif., The Fonda
Sept. 25 – Los Angeles, Calif., The Belasco Theater
Sept. 27 – San Francisco, Calif., The Fillmore
Sept. 28 – Seattle, Wash., Showbox At The Market
Sept. 30 – New York, N.Y., Webster Hall
Oct. 1 – New York, N.Y., Webster Hall
Oct. 3 – Brooklyn, N.Y., Warsaw
Oct. 6 – Toronto, Ontario, The Danforth Music Hall

Tickets for the Fonda Theater go on sale Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. As for the rest of the dates, it looks like most of the shows are sold out. The only exception is Toronto – and Ticketmaster warns that if you want tickets, there are “not many left.”
