is one of the headliners for Australian hard rock/metal festival Soundwave in 2014.
The tour hits the five major cities Feb. 22 to March 3. Among 50 acts announced are Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Rob Zombie, Megadeth, Placebo, AFI, Korn, Alter Bridge, Trivium, Newsted, Testament, Living Colour, Biffy Clyro and Alkaline Trio.
Another 20 acts, including another headliner, will be announced shortly.
Nine Inch Nails will not be one of them after negotiations broke down.
“Sadly Trent wants to be mainstream now and reach Justin Timberlake’s audience,” promoter AJ Maddah tweeted.
NIN frontman Trent Reznor responded that the band was still Australia-bound, but “didn’t feel Soundwave was the right vibe for us or our fans – working on a better scenario.”
Mayer, Dave Matthews Return For Bluesfest

were announced Aug. 26 as the first two headliners for Bluesfest 2014. The Byron Bay-based event celebrates its 25th anniversary over five days in April.
Festival founder Peter Noble pointed out that Mayer last played his event seven years ago, exclaiming, “This is such a coup for us – and I am so proud to be presenting John on our big celebration year.”

They are one of the top grossing, most in demand bands in the world – as well as up there with the best of the best.
“Finally, they are coming back to Bluesfest, for not one, but two full-length performances, and each night will be completely different as this super band never plays the same set twice!”
