A Blitz Of New Blitzen Trapper Dates

Blitzen Trapper is going to be pretty busy over the next few months. Thanks to a second leg of dates, Blitzen Trapper’s fall excursion now includes more than 30 gigs. You can see why the band’s PR rep refers to the act as “Americana stalwarts.”

The Portland, Ore.-based rockers are supporting their seventh studio album, fittingly titled VII. The follow-up to 2011’s American Goldwing is due out Oct. 1 as their first release for Vagrant Records.

Frontman Eric Early has agreed to provide track-by-track video commentary for VII. Check out opening song “Feel The Chill” below.

“Each song starts from a small place, a headwater-like remembrance and then widens into a song,” Early said. “For instance, that old wreck of a shack buried in evergreen and murky darkness at the bend in the road up on Jackson Hill where we used to drink, never failed to give me a chill driving by in the old Impala for its implacable mystery.”
