Patty Griffin’s Two Album Odyssey

When Patty Griffin returns to the road in October to support her new LP, “American Kid,” the singer/songwriter’s lost album from 13 years back will get a proper release that month when “Silver Bell” lands in stores.

Released earlier this year on New West, American Kid was co-produced by Griffin and Craig Ross.  The artist’s seventh album, the disc marked her debut on the label and is her first album of mainly new material since 2007’s Children Running Through.  Guess all that touring with Robert Plant’s Band Of Joy kept her busy as did the making of her Grammy-winning Downtown Church album in 2010

Griffin’s “lost” album, Silver Bell, will be officially released Oct. 8.  Recorded in 2000, the album was lost in the shuffle that took place during an ownership change at A&M.  While the album has waited 13 years to see the light of day, that doesn’t mean its music is an undiscovered country. The Dixie Chicks covered two songs from the disc – “Top Of The World” and “Truth #2” – and Natalie Maines cut her own version of the title track.
