Publicist Norman Winter Dies
Norman Winter, the music publicist who repped artists from Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond and Elton John to Garth Brooks, Queen, Eazy-E, and Dr. Dre, died of complications of Lewy Body disease in Las Vegas Aug. 22.
Lewy bodies are abnormal collections of protein in nerve cells in the brain. Winter was in his 80s.
Considered one of the last of the “old school” PR men, Winter headed publicity for MCA/Universal Records and ultimately opened his own shop with Norman Winter Associates.
Winter’s client list also included Billy Joel, Janet Jackson, The Who, AC/DC, Herb Alpert, Phil Ramone, James Brown, Steve Martin and many more.
