Curtis Peoples + Todd Carey = ‘8 Bit Heartbeat’
This is one of those tours that gives you an up-close-and-personal look at two rising artists. Peoples’ 2012 album, The Fight, was produced by Steven Miller (Tristan Prettyman) and busbee and features songs co-written with the two producers as well as tunes co-written with Nathan Chapman, Vic Fuentes and Marshall Altman, who produced the artist’s self-titled debut album.
Carey, a studio guitar major from University of Southern California, will be releasing his new album, Future Throwback, on Blaster Records later this year. The first single of the album, “Nintendo,” will drop in the coming weeks.
Both artists have a few solo dates before partnering for the “8 Bit Heartbeat” tour. Carey is scheduled to appear in Atlanta at Smithe’s Olde Bar Oct. 10; Nashville at The Rutledge Oct. 20; and Raleigh, N.C., at The Pour House Oct. 23. Peoples will be on the West Coast later this month when he stops in San Diego to play at Lestat’s as part of the Adams Ave. Street Fair Sept. 29.
