Changes: Los Lonely Boys & Charli XCX
Last week Los Lonely Boys broke the news to fans that Garza had re-injured his back and his doctor had forbid him from traveling. The musician originally messed up his back at a Feb. 27 show in Downey, Calif., at the Downey Civic Theatre. After walking to the front of the stage to greet fans, Garza fell into the orchestra pit.
The band’s Aug. 29 post on Facebook said the Garza brothers hoped to be back on the road by the first week of September. Now the group says, “Henry is still receiving treatment, and undergoing therapy, for neck and back injuries.” In addition to missing last night’s show in Carmel, Calif., the band isn’t going to make it to Madera, Calif. (Sept. 5); Pomona, Calif. (Sept. 6); Bend, Ore. (Sept. 7) or Boise, Idaho (Sept. 8).
Tourmates Los Lobos will still play as planned Sept. 6 at the L.A. County Fair in Pomona. Los Lobos will also perform in place of Los Lonely Boys Sept. 5 at the Madera District Fair. The Sept. 7-8 shows have been canceled.
Los Lonely Boys add, “We hope that with the additional rest, the band will be able to bring their Texican rock and roll to fans for the rest of the year. Continued thanks for all the healing prayers.”
When Charli XCX postponed her North American headline tour last month the English synthpop singer said she was going to be “completely honest” with fans about the reason for putting the outing on hold.
“I have been offered to support Paramore throughout their UK tour, which is a really big deal for me as I haven’t ever really toured in the UK outside of London before. It’s scary and it’s quite weird but it’s also super exciting for me to finally be able to play shows in the country that I’m from.”
The English synthpop singer said on Facebook she was sorry to let down fans and that when she made it back to North America “the tour will be bigger and better.” Charli XCX added, “Please don’t be too angry at me. I really do hate to let everyone down like this. I promise I’m going to make it up to you all.”
Tickets purchased for the original fall shows will be valid at the new dates, scheduled in October and November – even if the new gig in your city is at a different venue.
