DF boss Geoff Ellis says the numbers are so high because it’s the most shows the company has done in one summer and the T In The Park capacity has been upped to 85,000 per day.

The biggest of the 169 shows DF promoted between June and August were The Stone Roses at Glasgow Green (50,000 tickets) and Robbie Williams‘ two shows at Hampden Park (111,000).

The 20th edition of T In The Park, currently Pollstar’s International Festival Of The Year, sold 250,000 tickets.

The company’s newest venture, Glasgow Summer Sessions, which had shows from Kings of LeonAviciiTinie Tempah, and Eminem, shifted a further 100,000.

Fans were obviously happy to enjoy their music outdoors as the UK basked under the best summer it’s had in several years.

Ellis says good weather will always be a helping factor for those running outdoor shows but feels the beneficial effect is usually felt the following year.

“People remember their brilliant experience in the sunshine if they were there, and if they weren’t there they remember how fantastic the photos, the TV coverage and the social media coverage was and they don’t want to miss out,” he explained.

He said the launch of the Glasgow Summer Sessions brand has made him confident it’ll become a much-anticipated annual event.

King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, DF Concerts’ Glasgow club venue and current holder of NME’S “Best Small Venue” award, reopened Aug. 28 after a summer refurb.
