Chambers Attacker Surrenders

Dinalynn Andrews-Potter reportedly told police she suffers from a stress disorder, which caused her to snap when Chambers began performing the Curtis Mayfield song “People Get Ready” at the Hayward Russell City Blues Festival near Oakland, Calif.

Video of the incident showed the woman jumping on the stage, yelling, punching and shoving Chambers after he dedicated the song to Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old boy shot and killed by neighborhood watch coordinator George Zimmerman in Florida last year.

Though Chambers was treated at a hospital for bruises, a bruised rib, nerve damage and soreness, Andrews-Potter was cited and released by police the same night, according to the Oakland Tribune.

She managed to evade authorities until turning herself in at the Santa Rita Jail Sept. 12.

Chambers’ attorney, John Burris, told the paper Chambers is “elated with that (news of the arrest). He’s been waiting for this (arrest), so this is good news for him.”

Burris added that Chambers required additional treatment on his bruised ribs.

Chambers filed a $5 million suit against the city following the attack, alleging the incident left him unable to perform, forced him to stop working on a new album and pass on a potential tour.

Andrews-Potter remains jailed on $85,000 bail and her arraignment is slated for Sept. 20, the Tribune reported.
