Are You Up For ‘The Rider Challenge’?

Whenever The Smoking Gun gets a hold of artists’ riders, it’s always fun to check out the wacky demands. But would you be up for fulfilling the requests? Live Nation and Ford Fiesta are teaming up for a reality series to see which fans have what it takes.

The digital episodic series, dubbed “The Rider Challenge,” takes place in five cities in the U.S., featuring five bands and six teams of two fans. The acts are Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, Fitz & The Tantrums, Kid Cudi, Fall Out Boy and The Lumineers.

“The Rider Challenge” debuts on Live Nation’s website Sept. 30 with Lisa Loeb as the special guest host. The first episode will feature the six teams competing for positioning in the show, based on their music knowledge and ability.

During the series the teams will zoom across Las Vegas, Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles in Ford Fiestas, racing their opponents in what’s described as a “head-to-head bracket-style competition” to fulfill the band’s rider before the concert.

So, what’s in it for the contestants? The team that wins the challenge in each city will get to meet the artist that matches the rider they just fulfilled and attend the concert VIP style. The grand prize is their own Ford Fiesta and a “Live Nation Ultimate Access Pass,” which will get you into all shows (with all-access entry) that Live Nation puts on at U.S. venues for a year.

Each of the episodes is five minutes long and the series will run through November, according to the New York Times.

“We had a blast hanging out with the Rider Challenge contestants,” said Michael Fitzpatrick of Fitz & The Tantrums. “The show is a creative and fun way to give fans a sneak peek into the day in the life of a band. When you’re on the road it’s the little comforts that make each day better.”

Live Nation wants to know what would be on your rider. Submit an Instagram photo or video of your requests and you could win two concert tickets to see one of your favorite artists along with airfare and hotel accommodations and a $200 cash gift card. Entries will be judged based on uniqueness, creativity, and overall entertainment value. The contest runs through Nov. 30.
