A Dozen Diverse Comedians Aim For ‘1001 Laughs’

A dozen comedians hope to mine multicultural comedy gold this weekend in suburban Detroit.

Dearborn’s Arab American National Museum is hosting the first “1001 Laughs Dearborn Comedy Festival” Friday and Saturday. It features comedians of diverse ethnic backgrounds and hailing from Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

The show is produced by Dearborn-based comic Amer Zahr and headlined by Ahmed Ahmed, co-founder of the and actor on TBS’ “Sullivan & Son.”

Zahr and Ahmed appear in all four shows spanning both nights. The rest of the line-up varies.

Audience favorites – determined by a vote – will return Nov. 15 for an encore performance.

Tickets for all four performances are $15. Discounts are available for groups of at least four.
