Tricky’s Tricky Schedule

Tricky still hasn’t worked out his visa troubles. After postponing gigs in June for October, the British rapper/musician has canceled more than half of the dates on next month’s U.S. outing. This time some juvenile offences from his past are to blame.

When Tricky pushed back his tour earlier this year, his representatives simply said he couldn’t make it to the states because of “unforeseen U.S. visa issues.” Now his PR folks are dishing a bit more dirt.

According to an announcement, “Tricky has some juvenile offenses for joyriding and forgery of the crown and the US authorities require full disclosure before granting any visas. The new hold-up has been in getting this information from the UK police authorities.”

Gigs in Philadelphia, Boston, D.C., Minneapolis, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Austin and Englewood, Colo., have been called off. His reps say Tricky expects to receive his visa in time for shows at the end of October including appearances at and . Plus, his Oct. 2 concert at New York City’s Webster Hall has been moved to Oct. 26.

Here’s what his October schedule looks like now:

Oct. 19 – San Francisco, Calif., Treasure Island (Treasure Island Music Festival)
Oct. 23 – Los Angeles, Calif., El Rey Theatre
Oct. 25 – Asheville, N.C., Various Venues (Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit)
Oct. 26 – New York, N.Y., Webster Hall

“The most upsetting thing about this, whatever happens it seems like it’s me letting people down,” Tricky said. “Other people have always dealt with visas for me and it turns out that they have not advised me properly. Now I have been advised that this was going to be straightforward and easily done in time for this tour and now this has happened.”

Tricky’s PR reps say a full tour is being planned for 2014. A statement on his website adds, “Apologies – and Tricky will be back.”
