Party This Saturday At Prince’s Place
The Purple One is hosting the Oct. 5 event, which will feature performances from his new all-female band, 3rd Eye Girl, as well as his former, longtime backing group, The New Power Generation, according to the Pioneer Press.
3rd Eye Girl told Minneapolis City Pages blog the two groups have been rehearsing together.
“We really just wanted to open up Paisley to the public and invite Minnesota and anybody else who can make it out,” drummer Hannah Ford told City Pages. “This one is moreso like a spur-of-the-moment event to spend time with our community and throw a big concert for everybody and show off some of the stuff we’re working on.”
Doors for the show at 7801 Audubon Road in Chanhassen, Minn., open at 9 p.m. Of course, with limited capacity, you’ll want to get there early. Instead of selling tickets beforehand, there’s a $50 “donation” required at the door. The video announcement covers a few rules that should be expected for a Prince show: no cameras and no audio recorders, which means no cell phones either.
There is conflicting reports about parking. Pioneer Press reports “there will be no parking at Paisley Park … except for handicapped spaces” and that “a shuttle service is in the works” while City Pages says there will be “limited parking on-site, and traffic will be directed to overflow lots once it fills.” Well, guess you’ll figure it out when you get there. The important thing is you’re going to Prince’s studio!
