Jimmy Buffett To ‘Belly Up’

A glance at the venues on Jimmy Buffett’s fall touring schedule shows the usual arenas the man from “Margaritaville” is accustomed to playing.  That is, except for the show at a 600-seat club coming up in a couple of weeks.

Buffett will play the Belly Up in Solana Beach, Calif., Oct. 17.  Announced earlier this week, the venue sent a presale email along with a ticket link to its customers on its mailing list Thursday morning.  Tickets went on sale to the general public at 9 a.m. Pacific time today.

How long did it take to sell those tickets?   George Varga at UTSanDiego.com says the show sold out in two minutes.  That’s less time than it takes to listen to Buffett’s ode about the mythical “Margaritaville.”

There was a two-person limit on ticket sales.  In order to thwart scalpers, fans must show a “valid I.D. matching the ticket order” when picking up the tickets at will call on the night of the show, according to the Belly Up’s website.

Buffett next show following his Belly Up gig is Oct. 19 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena which sports a capacity over 15,000.
