Set for June 11-15 at various venues, if the celebration of wine and jazz sounds larger than previous Getaways, then Brian Culbertson should be smiling.  While making a promotional video in June, Getaway founder and artistic director Culbertson promised that the 2014 event would have “more artists, more music, more food and of course, more wine.”

The lineup is already approaching mammoth proportions.  Also appearing will be Mavis Staples, Average White Band, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Eric Darius, David Benoit, Michael Lington, Eric Marienthal, , Cecil Ramirez and funny man Keenen Ivory Wayans.

Venues include Lincoln Theatre in Yountville, Jamieson Ranch Vineyards and other locations, including the Westin Verasa Napa hotel, the scene for those post-concert Late Night Hangs. The Westin will also host several afternoon events including a cigar and port gathering. 2014 will mark the first time hotel will be solely reserved for guests of the Getaway.

Featuring several VIP-only events, the 2014 Napa Valley Jazz Getaway opens with an exclusive welcome dinner concert and jam session at chef Cindy Pawlcyn’s Wood Grill and Wine Bar.  A separately ticketed event, the evening will feature performances by the Cecil Ramirez Quartet, Culbertson and Lington.

The action switches to the Jamieson Ranch Vinyards June 14-15 for concerts beginning in the late afternoons and running into the evenings.  Other events include silent and live auctions benefiting The Grammy Foundation’s efforts to help music education programs in schools.

“It is extraordinary how much the Napa Valley Jazz Getaway has grown in just our third year and I’m so excited about our incredible lineup for 2014, our biggest and best yet,” Culbertson said.

“In addition to being joined by these legendary artists, I continue to invite more exquisite wineries to be involved with the Getaway as well as many more unique restaurants to be present at our outdoor events to provide a true ‘taste of Napa’ experience.  I look forward to welcoming wine and jazz enthusiasts to the beautiful Napa Valley once again.”
