Fred Franchi Dies

Americus “Fred” Franchi, veteran tour manager and event producer, died of cancer Oct. 2 at Malachi House in Cleveland, according Red Light Management’s Charlie Brusco.

Franchi, 74, started his industry career in the Cleveland rock scene in the 1970s.

He went on to tour manage Survivor and Thin Lizzy, and worked with Styx, The Rossington Collins Band, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

He produced events including the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and the OpSail 2000 sailing extravaganza.

Franchi also founded Synergy Systems, a portable stage production, lighting and sound company.
