Homebake Canceled

Shortly after announcing a downsize and new venue, Australia’s Homebake festival is now not happening at all.

“It has become apparent based on the feedback from social media sites and the box office that the traditional Homebake fans have rejected this change in format from one day to three nights and the change in venue,” festival organisers said.

The typically one-day  outdoor space in Sydney had moved to three days but smaller total capacity at the steps of the famous .

Acts on the bill for 2013 included Paul KellyThe Presets, and .

Homebake’s statement also blamed the cancellation on a similar festival, called Harvest, being scheduled at The Domain two weeks earlier.

“Because of the commercial implications and risk of being one of two music festivals in the Domain two weeks apart, reluctantly our hand was forced to reconfigure and relocate … to celebrate Homebake’s 18th anniversary.”

Harvest festival ended up canceling as well, but Homebake said it was too late to move back to The Domain.

Refunds are said to be automatically administered from the Sydney Opera House box office.
