James Taylor’s World Series Flub

While anyone else might have felt the weight of screwing up on national television, James Taylor reminds us he’s truly a class act by recovering smoothly from his “Star Spangled Banner”/“America The Beautiful” goof.

The plan was for Taylor to sing America’s national anthem Thursday at the beginning of Game 2 of the World Series pitting the St. Louis Cardinals against the Boston Red Sox on the latter’s home field.

Introduced as the evening’s “Star Spangled Banner” performer, Taylor stepped up to the mic and sang, “O beautiful for … Oh, say can you see…”

But other than that one-second snafu, Taylor, who also sang “America The Beautiful” during the seventh inning stretch, performed flawlessly.  Too bad the Red Sox can’t say the same thing.  The American League team lost to the Cardinals 4-2.
