Live Nation Acquires Voodoo

Live Nation has acquired New Orleans’ annual Voodoo Experience festival.

The fest was reportedly purchased by Robert Sillerman’s SFX Entertainment in January, but though a spokesman for SFX confirmed the sale at the time, it appears the news was premature.

A spokeswoman for Live Nation confirmed to Pollstar the company did not buy the festival from SFX, which never purchased Voodoo Festival.

A request for comment from a representative for SFX was unsuccessful at press time.

Voodoo Executive Producer Stephen Rehage joins LN as part of the agreement.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Live Nation team,” Rehage said. “Our outlooks on the festival market are aligned and we look to grow the Live Nation festival roster over the coming years.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 2013 installment of Voodoo Experience is slated for Nov. 1-3 at New Orleans City Park.

Artists on the books include Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Afrojack, and Kid Rock, among many others.
