Your New Favorite Supergroup: Salvador Dali Parton

Members of Mumford & Sons, Old Crow Medicine Show, The Vaccines, JEFF the Brotherhood and The Apache Relay are joining forces for one heck of a supergroup. After just one rehearsal, Salvador Dali Parton plans to play six shows in Nashville on Saturday.

Salvador Dali Parton is made up of Mumford & Sons’ Winston Marshall, Old Crow Medicine Show’s Gill Landry, The Vaccines’ Justin Hayward-Young, JEFF the Brotherhood’s Jake Orrall and The Apache Relay’s Mike Harris.

News of the existence of the new supergroup comes from the NashvilleScene.com, which received a press release from local label Infinity Cat. The label’s list of artists just happens to include Jeff The Brotherhood.

Salvador Dali Parton is a very new project. Just how new? According to the announcement, the musicians planned on writing their first songs Thursday, followed by their first full band rehearsal Friday.

At the time the press release was composed, Salvador Dali Parton couldn’t reveal what to expect from the band’s sound or which genre you should use to classify the act.

“We love to tell you. But the band hasn’t even practiced yet,” the announcement stated, according to Nashville Scene.

Here’s the plan for Saturday’s Nashville gigs:

6:45 pm – High Watt
8 p.m. – Exit / In
9 p.m. – Stone Fox
9:45 p.m. – Springwater Supper Club
11 p.m. – house show at Coyoto Ranch

The sixth show’s time and location will be announced Saturday.

For those of us who can’t make it to Music City tomorrow, Salvador Dali Parton is planning on recording all the gigs and releasing a live album of the best performances.

Oh, and by the way, The Guardian points out the supergroup’s name may have been inspired by a line in Das Racist’s song “Art School Lyrics.”
