The 51-year-old Long Beach Arena in California has a $7 million grid and curtaining system installed.
The 13,500-capacity facility, run by SMG, now has an advanced grid suspension and curtain system, described as a series of catwalks, that can be raised and lowered in about 24 minutes.
The curtains transform the center of the arena to any space size needed, according to the Orange County Register.
The installation of state-of-the-art light, sound and video systems that can be controlled by an iPad just adds to the system’s versatility.
When the new grid system is in use, the area will be called Pacific Ballroom at the Long Beach Arena, the Register said. The Pacific Ballroom and arena’s new look will be shown to the public Nov. 20.
