The Jonas Brothers Talk Post-Breakup
OK, fine. We shouldn’t blame Nick. When the brothers first announced the split to People magazine on Tuesday Joe pointed out that, “It was a unanimous decision.” But it was Nick who started it!
“I was actually the one that initiated the conversation,” Nick told “Good Morning America.” The 21-year-old added, “You know, we’re family first and that’s always been our main priority. So honesty in what we do as a group was really important. So I came to the table … just before we were prepping to leave for the tour and I shared my heart with them. I shared my feelings.
“In a nutshell, I said, ‘Look, I feel like we’ve had some complications within the group for a long time [and] without addressing them I think this train will fall off the tracks without really getting real about some of the concerns and some of the limitations that we may feel as individuals in the group. It was a tough conversation, not going to lie. It was the first time we really had that real conversation. That was a few days of working through it.”
Joe explained that the complications include feeling like the music “was starting to get stale to us.” The middle brother, age 24, noted that the guys were butting heads on decisions from how to set up a music video to personal opportunities.
So, now that they’ve decided to pursue their individual passions, what’s next for the brothers?
“My next move will be recording music, writing for myself and for other people, some acting opportunities and maybe a return to theatre at some point,” Nick said.
Joe echoed his younger brother, saying, “It sounds a little similar to Nick. But music, on my own, and acting, and there’s a lot of other ideas.”
As for Kevin, the 25-year-old and his wife Danielle are expecting their first child. Besides looking forward to becoming a father, Kevin said he’s going to pursue the business side of things, which he calls his first passion.
“I’m in the first round of funding for an entertainment fund that will position brands to target millennials so I’m kind of pouring my passion into that.”
Prior to breaking up, the Jonas Brothers canceled its 19-day tour a few days before it was set to launch Oct. 11 in Pennsylvania. Now the guys have confirmed that not only is the tour canceled and the band broken up, but fans can forget about seeing the release of V, which would have been the band’s fifth studio album. On the bright side, the guys have promised to put out a handful of tracks that would have been on the LP.
“We will be doing something for our fans,” Kevin said. “They’ve traveled with us and been with us for so many years that we did not want to leave without giving them something. So we’re going to release four of the unreleased songs from the album. The rest of the album will be never released. … We put together the live tracks from the last summer tour – about 10 songs as well – so we’ll be actually giving that to our fan club members, as a gift from us.”
