Jensen Splits Agency And Festivals

Top German rock promoter Thomas Jensen is splitting ICS’s festivals and booking agency businesses into two separate companies, with the latter continuing under the new name of Seaside Touring.

The two departments had worked in parallel for ICS Festival Service.

In 1990 the Dörpstedt-based company founded Wacken Open Air, arguably the world’s biggest designated rock and metal fest, while ICS’s booking department has been making German and international tours for acts such as Doro Pesch, Uli Jon Roth, Tenside, Saxon, Iced Earth, Annihilator, and A Pale Horse Named Death.

In September, all 75,000 tickets for next year’s WOA (Aug. 1-3) sold out within a couple of days.

“I’m sure that Seaside Touring will easily tie in with the success of ICS in the last years,” Jensen explained.

Thomas Kreidner, who’s spent many years heading the ICS booking department, will run Southside. Seaside’s next tour will be Iced Earth, with the U.S. rock act playing main support for Volbeat Oct. 11 to Dec. 1. Iced Earth hits the road for its own headline tour in January.
