N.C. Man Wants Concert Trial Moved Out Of Hawaii
Marc Hubbard’s attorneys filed a motion seeking to move his trial from Honolulu to North Carolina. The motion says he won’t get a fair trial in Hawaii because of negative publicity over what’s been dubbed the “Wonder Blunder.”
Authorities say Hubbard claimed he had connections to secure Wonder for an athletics department fundraiser. The school paid a $200,000 deposit, began selling thousands of tickets and later learned neither the singer nor his representatives authorized the concert.
A hearing on the motion is scheduled for Monday.
Another man has pleaded guilty to transporting money as part of the deal.
