Paul Simon & Sting: On Stage Together

After sharing the stage earlier this year during a benefit for the Robin Hood Foundation, Paul Simon and Sting are hitting the road together in 2014 for a North American tour. So far, 18 dates are scheduled and more gigs are expected to be added to the itinerary.

The two acts performed acoustic versions of “The Boxer” and “Fields of Gold” at the Robin Hood Foundation benefit in May.

“After we finished it we both looked at each other and said: ‘Wow. That’s pretty interesting,’” Simon told the New York Times.

Simon and Sting will make the official announcement about their tour on Tuesday. In the meantime, the Times has spilled the beans that the excursion, titled “Paul Simon & Sting: On Stage Together,” features 18 dates scheduled Feb. 8 through March 16, including a March 4 show at NYC’s Madison Square Garden.

The newspaper assures fans that the tour was inspired by “a spirit of musical exploration and not a music-industry executive who saw dollar signs by combining their fan bases.”

Oh, and by the way, did you know that the musicians once lived in the same building on Mahanttan’s Upper West Side?

Presale tickets will be available Wednesday. General onsales for most dates, including Madison Square Garden, begin Nov. 12.
