Blockbuster Done

Whatever was remaining of former video rental giant Blockbuster is no more.

Parent company Dish Network Corp. is shuttering 300 locations and laying off 2,800 employees.

It’s an end of an era and Dish expects to have the stores closed by January.

Not long ago, Live Nation used the stores as ticketing kiosks.

About 50 stores operating under franchise agreements will remain open.

Blockbuster filed for bankruptcy in 2010 and was acquired by Dish Network, which closed store locations by the hundreds before today’s announcement.
