Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings’ 2014 Tour

It takes more than cancer to keep Sharon Jones down.  The singer and The Dap-Kings will launch their long-awaited tour in February.  With shows scheduled through mid-April, tickets go on sale this week.

Jones had plenty on her plate for 2013, including the release of her new album, Give The People What They Want, plus the requisite tour to support the long-player.

But life had other plans for the 57-year-old singer, including surgery in June for bile duct cancer and the removal of a stage one tumor.  As a preventive measure, Jones began chemotherapy in August.

Meanwhile, the album’s release was pushed back to Jan. 14.  Now Jones has revealed plans for an adventure running February through April.  Coming up a tad sooner will be Jones &The Dap Kings performing on a float in the 87th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC.

“Getting to take part in this parade is so thrilling; I’ve been watching it on television since I was a young girl,’ Jones said, adding, “I have traveled a hard road this year and being thankful is something I relate to deeply.”
