The idea behind the road trip is to present artists with Southern musical roots in a songwriter-in-the-round setting where they can play music and tell stories.  Factor in intimate venues giving fans that up-close-and-personal feel and you have the “Southern Soul Assembly Tour.”

But not all four artists hail from the South. Grey calls Jacksonville, Fla., his hometown and Marc Broussard is a Louisiana native.  North Mississippi Allstars guitarist/vocalist Luther Dickinson is from, well, Mississippi, although he spent the first 12 years of his life in Tennessee.

Then there’s Sweden-born Anders Osborne who moved to New Orleans in the mid ’80s.  The man who wrote “Favorite Son” and “Pleasing You” calls Louisiana his home.
